Description
There are 9 Day Centres for Persons with a Disability in Malta. The aim of these centres is to help persons with a disability to continue developing their potential through different types of activities, while at the same time supporting their families so that such persons can continue living within the community without being socially isolated, thus empowering them to live independently.
The objectives of the service are reached by:
- Providing core skilled programmes such as basic skills towards independent living supported by other skills that enhance quality of life;
- Develop programmes which enable clients to engage in as many activities as possible in the community, both in occupational nature and leisure activities;
- Carry out programmes of physical and psychological well-being as well as activities that enhance the clients' educational, social communication, cultural and leisure abilities.
