		Centres
The Day Centres serve as respite and support services, ensuring that persons with a disability are trained in independent living skills. In other words, the development of the individual and of the quality of life enjoyed by that person, is the oustanding characteristic of this service. The Day Services help the clients to establish links with other individuals, and assists them to benefit from other resources that already exist within the community. This means that the clients may spend their time at the Day Centres by being included in a variety of activities. Assisted by the caring staff, the clients carry out activities such as card making, cane work, pottery and food preparation. Clients also have the opportunity to engage in music, arts, drama, needlework, woodwork, computer skills and literacy programmes. Events are then organised from time to time so to share and enhance their various skills whilst empowering them to interact with clients from other centres and to develop new skills. Since Day Services include the promotion of communication environment and the improvement of communication skills, the clients benefti from the services of Speech Language Pathologists and teachers.
