Aġenzija SAPPORT acknowledges its educative role within the Disability Sector and has thus developed and implemented strategies so as to ensure its commitment in providing students following courses in any field related to the Disability Sector, or administration and/or secretarial courses, with placement opportunities and thus ascertaining that students will be able to put into practice the theoretic knowledge and skills obtained within their course of studies.
In order to guide such commitment, the Agency drew up and introduced in 2005 its Policy on Students on Placement applicable to all students holding training placements within its Residential Services, Community Services, Social Work Services and Administration.
SAPPORT defines training placement as an unpaid work-phase carried out by a student as part of a post-secondary or tertiary level education course in any occupation whereby the student is expected to learn and apply tasks and skills relevant to his/her course of studies under the direction of a supervisor and for which s/he will be assessed.
In order to ensure that placements are positive experiences both for the Agency and for the students concerned, SAPPORT devised a number of procedures as guidelines.
